I think this app is solving a currently unsolved problem and is on the right track but. More awareness of what a 'real' meal should be (not 5 bananas) would also be useful. Somehow expanding and better tagging of recipes would probably help. Being able to set some sort of pantry (or at least internally to the app keeping track of the kind of stuff it's asked you to buy recently) would really improve the experience by eventually reducing the weekly grocery cost. But the company could really benefit from having some chefs(or hell parents of large families who actually have to plan this stuff!) consult or something to fine tune their algorithms. Now, for those of you who prefer digital. And, you will love that it has a printable grocery list by category too Digitally Editable. Honestly this app has been around for a while and it's a great idea that's getting better. While you are planning out your meals, you can also write down any groceries you may need. I remember a creamed pea recipe that called for '1 cup of sweetened condensed milk'. But, to toot my own horn, I can cook which saved my taste buds a couple of times with this app. I was looking forward to not stressing about what to eat during the week. I am a classically trained chef turned developer. There's a middle ground between spending 300$ a week per person for groceries and eating 15 bananas for lunch and this app hadn't found it yet. This may seem counter to my previous point but. To be fair, at this point I had turned the 'complexity' of each meal down because I was sick of spending so much on groceries every week but still it was ridiculous. The algorithm, last I used it, wasn't really great at providing variety and sometimes just defaulted to having you eat a lot of a single thing. Eat 8 cups of this, admittedly, delicious cucumber tomato salad thing. And forget it if you are cooking for a family with different dietary needs (say different caloric needs), this does not make that any easier.Įat 5 bananas. ![]() A patient user can manually work on the provided menus to work around this but it's still a pain.
